Carol Sue Lahman, 77, Rochester, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at IU Health Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.

On Feb. 15, 1939, Carol was born at home in Leiters Ford to C.E. "Mike" and Bernice Kline Hartz. As one of three children, she shared her childhood with two brothers, Jerry and Mike. Proudly, Carol graduated with the Class of 1957 from Aubbeenaubbee High School. Continuing her education, Carol went to Weikland Beauty College in Logansport.

On Valentine's Day in 1960, Carol and Carl "Dean" Lahman were married in Leiters Ford. They shared 45 years of life's adventures. Together they owned and operated the Lahman Shoe Store for 15 years. Carol also worked at the Rouch Insurance Agency. Both Carol and Dean enjoyed wintering in Fort Myers, Fla. Sadly Dean passed away on May 9, 2005.

Carol kept busy as a volunteer at Woodlawn Hospital, Goodwill and RSVP of Rochester and The Hope Chest in Florida.

Carol will be lovingly remembered by two sons, Bradley Lahman and wife Dena, and Barry Lahman and wife Phyllis, all of Rochester; four grandchildren, Tabby Harger, Kyle Lahman, Austin Sausaman, and Bryce Lahman; three great-grandchildren, Dawson Harger, McKenzie Lahman, and Aaron Meiser; a brother, Mike Hartz and wife Gloria, Valparaiso; a sister-in-law, Sally Andrews, Seattle, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother Jerry Hartz.

A celebration of the life of Carol Sue Lahman will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. Pastor Nancy Foster will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Leiters Ford Cemetery.
