Clyde Reed, 76, Akron, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.

He was born on July 24, 1940, in Aurora, Ill., to George and Alice (Bogdon) Reed.

Clyde was a truck driver for North Express, Winamac. He also had driven for Pierceton Trucking, Sealed Power, Rochester, and Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.

He graduated from Akron High School in 1958. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, the American Legion, and VFW, all of Rochester. He enjoyed reading and was a White Sox, Oakland Raiders, and Indianapolis Colts fan.

Survivors include his sons, Wade Reed, Salt Lake City, Utah, Bret Reed, Akron, and Todd Reed, Salt Lake City, Utah; a grandchild; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, George and wife Pam Reed, Akron.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bruce; and his stepfather, Charles Pearson.

His funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron. Burial will be in the Mentone Cemetery. Visitation is 1 p.m. to the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.
