Mrs. Phyllis Jean Clemans, 60, Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 4:50 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2017, at her residence. This followed a valiant battle with cancer.

On Nov. 8, 1956, in Fulton County, Phyllis Jean White was born. She was a treasured daughter of Walter B. and Mary Katherine Ispock White. Growing up, Phyllis shared her childhood with a sister, Patricia, and two brothers, Daniel and Ricky.

In Wise, Va., on Dec. 3, 1972, Phyllis Jean married the love of her life Mr. Robert "Bob" Clemans Jr. They shared 45 years of life's adventures. From their union came two wonderful children Donna Jean and Robert Oliver III. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A faithful member of the Whippoorwill Community Church for many years, Phyllis was baptized by the Rev. John Andrews at the Talma Baptist Church in 1987. She was also a member of the ladies auxiliaries of the VFW, American Legion and Eagles Lodge. Phyllis took great pride in helping her customers during the years that she served the Fourth Street mini-mart as assistant manager.

An artist, Phyllis expressed herself with acrylics, finishing a number of paint-by-number projects. She also enjoyed the art of latch-hook. Phyllis mastered many computer games. She also enjoyed keeping up with her many friends on Facebook.

Phyllis is lovingly remembered by her husband, Bob; a daughter, Donna Jean Cassel and husband Todd, Warsaw; a son, Robert Oliver Clemans III and wife Kacie, Rochester; seven grandchildren, Joseph Clemans, Jordan Buzzbee, Skyler Clemans, David Clemans, Eric Cassel, Craig Cassel, and Isaac Cassel; great-granddaughter Addyson Jade Clemans; great-grandson Joseph James Cassel, due to arrive in June; a sister, Patricia Borden, Rochester; two brothers, Daniel White Sr. and wife Jennifer, Rochester, and Ricky White Sr. and wife Annette, Rochester; father-in-law Robert E. Clemans Sr. and wife Mary, Edwardsburg, Mich.; sisters-in-law Judy Hoge, Silver Lake, Amy Brock, Elkhart, Mechelle Mares and husband Steve, Illinois, and Terry Littlefield and husband Joe, Elkhart; brothers-in-law Arden Clemans and wife Missy, Rochester, and Darrell Watts, Goshen; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and Misty, the blond-brown Pomeranian, and Precious, the domestic gray, long-haired Angora.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Walter in 1988; mother Mary in 2002; an infant granddaughter, Phyllis Jean "PJ" Clemans in 1996; grandson Christian Cassel in 2001; a sister-in-law, Carol Carlson; and three brothers-in-law, James Hoge, Donald Borden, and Louis Watts.

A celebration of the life of Mrs. Phyllis Jean Clemans will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. Pastor Brian Sewell will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
