Steven R. Ault, 63, Akron, passed away at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born Sept. 28, 1953, in Plymouth.

Steve was a cabinetmaker in Nappanee and Wabash. He had also worked for Creighton Brothers, Hand Industries, and Heckman Bindery. In years past, he was the owner of the Rock Lake Rollercade.

He was raised in the Beaver Dam community. Steve attended the Akron Church of God and was involved with the Akron Youth League. He also mowed many yards and was a handyman. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, watching sports, gardening, bowling, hunting and his family.

Survivors include his parents, Willodean R. and Danny J. Allen, North Manchester; his sons, Christopher Ray Ault Reese and wife Kristi, Leesburg, Jeramy Lee Ault Reese and wife Mary, Akron, Joseph Ray and wife Cassie Ault, Rochester, and Dawson James Ault, Rochester; daughters Krista M. Ladig and husband Steven, Kendallville, and Brandi Nicole Ault French and husband Isaac, Rochester; and 17 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Freddie Allen Cole.

His funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Kathy Nelson officiating. Burial will be at the Akron Cemetery. Visitation is 4:30-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at the funeral home.
