Theodore A. "Ted" Silvers, 87, of Rochester, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, in his home.
He was born Sept. 6, 1925 in Somerset, Ky. He married Dorothy Wiegand on March 4, 1978 in Oxford, and she survives.
Ted was raised in Fowler, moving to Rochester in 1979. He was a truck driver for 43 years, retiring from General Transfer in Rochester.
He was a member of the Fowler American Legion Post 57 for 68 years. Ted was also a member of the 40/8 in Lafayette, Eagle Lodge 852 in Rochester, and D.A.V. No. 42 of Plymouth.
Survivors include one son, Greg Silvers and wife Sherry, of Fowler; six daughters, Nancy Cathron, Brenda Jessie and husband Dave, both of Fowler, Cheryl Noble and husband Harold, of Lafayette, Carol Zimmerman, of Rochester, Nina Owens and husband Travis, of Attica, and Theresa Allen and husband Mike, of Oxford; several loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Ted was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Copenhaver; and a son-in-law, Dave Zimmerman, of Rochester.
Visitation is 4 - 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at Windler Funeral Home, Fowler, with the funeral following the visitation.
