John Buttermore Jr., 89, Orlando, Fla., died at 2:15 a.m. Monday Oct. 29, 2012 at Winter Park Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 6, 1922 in Persia, Tenn., to John Milton Buttermore and Viola Gertrude (Mooney) Buttermore.
He was married to Elsie Buttermore, who preceded him in death on Oct. 31, 2010. They were married on June 28, 1944 in Shrewsbury, England. They lived in Rochester over 25 years, and were one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
John loved reading his Bible and did so every day. He loved his ministry so very much; going from house to house, teaching people about the Bible and even studying with some in their homes. To John and his wife Elsie, their ministry was the most important part of their lives, as together they did for so many years and stayed faithful until their death.
John is survived by his five children, Sandra Hozey and husband Joe, Rochester, Valerie Eads and husband Bob, Orlando, Fla., John Buttermore and wife Carolyn, Idaho, Ronnie Buttermore and wife Judy, Kokomo, and Gwen Lenz and husband Bruce, Rochester; 26 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Preceeding him in death were his wife; parents; two sisters; and two brothers.
