Marcile I. Becker

Marcile I. Becker, 86, formerly of Argos, died at 8 a.m. Nov. 7, 2012 at Timbercrest Health Care, North Manchester, following a sudden illness.
She was born Sept. 23, 1926 in Akron, to parents J. Orville and Doris (Keesey) Ellis.
Marcile was a graduate of Akron High School in the class of 1944, and then earned a degree at South Bend College of Commerce in bookkeeping.
On March 9, 1947, she married Frederick "Fred" H. Becker in Akron. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1984.
Marcile grew up in the Akron community. She moved to Argos in 1947, where she lived for nearly 50 years. She moved to Timbercrest in April of 1994.
She worked as a bookkeeper for ASC's, Plymouth, and Dalton Foundry, Warsaw. She also worked as a farmer's wife.
Marcile was a member of Eel River Church of the Brethren, North Manchester, and attended Walnut Church of the Brethren, Argos for many years and was involved with the Ladies Aid at Walnut Church of the Brethren.
She spent many years doing volunteer service at Camp Alexander Mack, Milford, New Windsor Brethren Relief Center, New Windsor, Md., and World Handcrafts, North Manchester.
She was on the board of trustees at Timbercrest, North Manchester.
She was a handy craft 4-H leader for several years and was involved with the Walnut Township Home Economics Club.
Survivors include two sons, Ron Becker and wife Phyllis, of Plymouth, and Don Becker, of Fort Wayne; one daughter, Peggy Wieland, of North Manchester; six grandchildren, Christina Marshall, of Cape Coral, Fla., Angela Rodriguez and husband Ed, of Warsaw, Heather Howard and husband Matt, Kyle Wieland and wife Julia, Heidi Wieland and Jennifer Howard, and Kasha Wieland, all of North Manchester; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Donna Spencer and husband John, of Cicero, and Janice Shewman and husband Harold, of Akron.
She was preceeded in death by her parents; husband; and one great-grandaughter, Mackenzie Becker.
Funeral service is at noon Saturday Nov. 10, 2012 at the Walnut Church of the Brethren, Argos, with Reverend Robert E. Rice Jr. officiating.
Visitation is 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the church.
