Paul Scott

Mr. Paul Wesley Scott, 93, of Rochester, passed away at 8:54 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Life Care Center, Rochester.

Paul was born on Aug. 22, 1919, in Fulton County, the cherished son of Vernon F. and Anna B. (Sherrard) Scott. Growing up in Richland Township, he shared his childhood with two sisters, Rosemary and Marjorie and a brother Basil. As a proud Wildcat, Paul graduated with his class from Richland Center High School in 1937.

On June 28, 1940, Paul married his best friend, Marietta Green in Koontz Lake. Together they shared 72.5 years of life's adventures. Born from their union was a son, Paul Eugene, and a daughter, Pamela Sue, who passed away at the age of 11 from complications of cystic fibrosis. The family tree grew over the years with the added blessings of two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

For a number of years, Paul served Morton Buildings as office manager and sales representative from the Wabash offices. He and Marietta were life members of the Tiosa Brethern Church. Most recently, they attended the Riverview Community Church.

Accomplished in the art of woodworking, Paul made many custom creations for the family. Some of the most treasured are shadow boxes, bowls, figurines and a unique plate that integrated three species of wood. Until recent years, he was meticulous with his lawn care. For many years, he and Marietta enjoyed planting a huge garden and harvesting the bounty so their family could enjoy produce year round.

Paul is lovingly remembered by his wife, Marietta; one son, Gene Scott, of Plainfield; two grandchildren, Brian Scott and Brandy Saylor; five great-grandchildren, Lauren, Kelsey and Carly Scott, and Danni and Dayne Saylor; one sister, Rosemary DePue and husband John, of Argos; and several nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pamela Sue Scott; one sister, Marjorie Umbaugh; and one brother, Basil Scott.

A celebration of the life of Paul W. Scott will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, in the Good Family Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Rochester, with Pastor Rod Ruberg officiating.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.

Interment will be at the Reichter Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Electronic expressions of sympathy may be made to Paul's family at www.goodfamilyfh.com.
