Freeda Witham, 84, Mentone, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Nov. 27, 1928, in Plymouth, to Forrest and Goldie (Teel) Kesler. On Jan. 14, 1949, she married Rex Witham, in Mentone. He survives at home.
She worked for Farmers State Bank of Mentone. Freeda was the secretary to the president of the bank. She spent 30 years at the bank and held a vice president title.
She was a lifetime area resident and resided in her childhood home until her passing. Freeda was a 1946 graduate of Mentone High School. She was a lifetime member of the Mentone Church of Christ, and she faithfully read her Bible. She loved sharing time with her family and also enjoyed sewing and cooking.
Survivors include her husband, Rex Witham, Mentone; one son, Gregory R. Witham, Valparaiso; three daughters, Caleen (Susie) Rentschler, Mentone, Janie and husband, Eric Gard, Carmel, and Sally and husband Jay Hearn, St. Charles, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Natalie, Nathan, Aaron, Katie, Maggie, Rachel and Charles; five great-grandchildren, Frank, Dustin, Darcy, Ben and Gibson; sister, Ellen Flenar, Mentone; and special nephews, Bob Everman, Nashville, and Bill Everman, Gas City.
She was preceded in death by an infant, Carol; one daughter-in-law, Jennifer Witham; one sister, Eloise Everman; and one brother-in-law, Bob Flenar.
Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at King Memorial Home, Mentone, with Billy Steele officiating.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, March 4, at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.
