Freddie Wayne Allen, 49, Nappanee, formerly of Hurley, Va., and Akron, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013, at his sister's residence.
He was born Sept. 16, 1963, in Grundy, Va., to parents Fred B. and Okie (Lester) Allen.
He worked for Miller Manufacturing Company as a setup man for 19 years. Freddie enjoyed fishing and NASCAR; Dale Earnhardt Jr. was his favorite driver. He was very close to his nephews Corey and Seth Blankenship.
Survivors include two sisters, Tabatha Blankenship, Akron, and Diane Blankenship and fiance Michael Reed, Akron; two nephews, Corey and Seth Blankenship, Akron; and special friends, Jim Weaver and Robert Blankenship, Nappanee.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred B. Allen, and mother and stepfather, Okie and Douglas Justice.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with Pastor Connie Cline officiating.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Nichols Cemetery, Akron.
Memorial donations are open to the donor's choice.
