George A. Moyer
Nov. 3, 1934 - April 15, 2013
George A. Moyer, 78, of Union, passed away at 6:55 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at Summit City Nursing & Rehabilitation in Fort Wayne.
He was born Nov. 3, 1934, in Fulton County, to Everett and Laura Eva (Costello) Moyer.
On Dec. 27, 1970, in Elkhart, he married Janet L. Erickson. She survives along with five children, Debra (Ron) Bueche, of Osceola, Babette Moyer, of South Bend, Christine Moyer, of Dowagiac, Mich., Heidi (Andy) Scupham, of Union, Mich., and Mark (Emily) Moyer, of Bristol; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Joan (Harlan) Truax, of Pittsboro, and Marlene (Herb) Glassman, of Dawsonville, Ga.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Moyer.
George was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church and sang in the choir there. He also was a member of the Valley-Aires and Elcona Country Club. George enjoyed boating, Notre Dame football and spending time with his grandchildren. He worked for Riblet Products and Ventline and founded Moyers Inc., in 1980. He was an innovator in the RV industry and held two patents that changed seating design and function.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at Augustana Lutheran Church, Elkhart. Pastor Steve Reshan will preside, and burial will follow in Zion Cemetery in Bristol.
Visitation for George will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Elkhart, and from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to Augustana Lutheran Church.
