Paul Tyler
Jan. 14, 1936 - April 27, 2013

Paul Tyler, 77, Rochester, quietly passed away at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at his residence.

He was born on Jan. 14, 1936, in Fulton County, the son of Francis and Naomi (Pickens) Tyler. He was one of 10 children.

He served in the Indiana National Guard and the United States Army, serving a tour of duty in Korea. He was a lifetime member of the Eagles Lodge No. 852, where he served as trustee and president. Paul was also a past member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He worked at Magnetic Shield/Advance Magnetics for 35 years.

On Sept. 26, 1959, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Rochester, he married Sandy Shriver; they shared their lives for nearly 54 years.

He was the loving father of five children, Valerie and husband Tom Grosvenor, Rochester, Jane Tyler, Rochester, Joe and wife Doreen Tyler, Culver, Jason Tyler, at home, and Thomas and wife Heather Tyler, Rochester. He was also the devoted grandfather of seven grandchildren, Trevor Tyler Grosvenor and Kari Dee Grosvenor; Emma Naomi and Andrew Lane Tyler; and Cailab Martin, Chloie Michelle and Cailynn Mae Tyler, all of Rochester; and two precious great-granddaughters, Kori Dee and Ryli Rae Rouch, both of Rochester. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Donna Tyler; three sisters and one brother, all of Rochester; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother- and father-in-law, Edna Smith and Martin Shriver; and three brothers, Melvin 'Bud', Ralph and Billy Tyler; and two sisters, Mona Lou and Jeannie.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, where military ceremonies will take place at 8:15 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rochester Community Schools Students Assistance Fund.

Uncle Paul had magic fingers when it came to pulling loose baby teeth. I still don't know how he did it but he would have that tooth out for a couple minutes before I even realized it. He will forever be missed but never forgotten. Love you always Uncle Paul!.
