Cody David Floyd, 16, Akron, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 19, 2013, in Burket.

He was born July 7, 1996, in Warsaw, to Bruce and Theresa (Hoff) Floyd.

Cody was a sophomore at Tippecanoe Valley High School, where he played linebacker on the football team, wearing number 24. He always enjoyed all outdoor sports. He was also a wrestler, qualifying for regionals as a freshman, as well as being state ranked. He took a lot of agriculture classes. Cody was an eight-year 4-H member in the Henry Newcomers Club. He showed beef, cattle and swine. He also worked on community building projects in 4-H.

Survivors include his parents, Bruce and Theresa Floyd, Akron; maternal grandparents, George and Ruth Hoff, Akron; paternal grandmother, Shirley Denney, Akron; sisters, Samantha Hoff and Christy Floyd, Akron; nephew, Ian Conner, Akron; and paternal aunts, Anita and husband Gary Webb, Chesapeake, Ohio, and Crystal Long, Goshen.

He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Bruce D. Floyd Sr. and Tom Denney; and an uncle, Rodney Huff.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Tippecanoe Valley High School, with Pastor Danny Honeycutt officiating.

Visitation is 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the high school.

Burial will be in Akron Cemetery, Akron.

Memorial contributions may be made to TVHS wrestling or TVHS football.

Services are entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
