Leslie 'Tuffy' Grubbs

Leslie G. 'Tuffy' Grubbs, 85, Bourbon, passed away at 7:50 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Mason Health Care, Warsaw.

He was born June 23, 1927, in Mentone, to Peter and Ada (Bradley) Grubbs.

On Sept. 25, 1945, he married Doris L. Flenar, in Mentone. She survives.

Tuffy attended Mentone High School, and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII. He attended the Riverview Community Church of Tippecanoe. He loved fishing, camping, the Chicago Cubs and his dog, Buddy.

He had worked at Manwaring, Mentone, and later worked at Zimmer Orthopedics, Warsaw, for 17 years, where he retired in 1990.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly and husband Terry Lewis, Rochester, and Denise and husband Marty Heckaman, Etna Green; daughter-in-law, Tammy Grubbs, Bremen; 10 grandchildren, Jay and Leewanna Lewis, Amy Noel and Bob Cooper, Missy and Jeff Smith, Justin and Emily Grubbs, Landon Grubbs, Alyssa and Adam Siefer, Jason and Cortnie Heckaman, Adam and Amanda Heckaman, Rusty and Michele Heckaman and Holly and Isaac Sellers; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Tuffy was preceded in death by son, Tim Grubbs; sisters, Fern, Bernice, Fawn and Dollie; and brothers, Harvey, George, Harry, Jesse and Max.

Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013, at King Memorial Home, Mentone, with Pastor Rod Ruberg officiating.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.

Memorial contributions to may be made to Mason Health Care's Alzheimer's Unit.

Bev, Terry and Family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. As difficult as it is to loose a parent, we have to believe we will see them again.
