Stanley L. Lantz
Aug. 29, 1951-June 27, 2013
Stanley Lantz
Stanley Lantz

Stanley Lee Lantz, 61, died unexpectedly June 27, 2013, at his home in Elkhart. He was born Aug. 29, 1951, in Elkhart to Harry Frederick Lantz and Geraldine Anna Stout Lantz (both deceased).

Stanley is survived by his son Jason M. (Jayme) Lantz (age 35); and his daughter Lindsay N. (Rob) Lantz Anderson (age 33). Stanley also has a surviving brother, Steven F. Lantz, Seattle, Wash.

Stanley is grandfather to four grandchildren, Peyton G. Anderson (age 11) and Ashlyn K. Anderson (age 7), Cohen R. Lantz (age 7) and Camdyn R. Lantz (age 5).

Stanley graduated from Elkhart (now Central) High School in 1969 and went on to attend Vincennes University, Vincennes, 1969-1971. In 1972, Stanley joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Orlando, Fla. and Rantoul, Ill. At Rantoul, he met and married Sheila M. Enyeart (daughter of Robert and Elizabeth-Betty). They ultimately settled in Elkhart to raise their family.

Stanley was employed at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home when first married and living in Elkhart, starting in 1973. Ultimately, Stanley settled on a career as a quality and manufacturing engineer for Miles, now Bayer Schering Pharma AG, Laboratories Diagnostics Division, Mishawaka.

Outside his work career, Stanley took an active interest in helping to coach high school wrestling. He also participated as an adult counselor in summer camps for children with severe diabetes.

Above all other hobbies was Stanley's love of the great outdoors (being the son of Harry "Fred" Lantz, could there be any other route?!). Name an animal or fish and they were on Stan's list to be hunted down or caught, especially grouse (of Wisconsin fame), deer and all fish of the lakes. His greatest pleasure was spending a week with family and friends in the woods of Wisconsin hunting and cooking.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. service Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Akron Cemetery, at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013.

If you desire, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Stanley's memory to his grandchildren's college fund, making checks payable to Steven Lantz.
