Janet J. Kyes, 79, Macy, passed away at 12:01 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at her home.

She was born on May 27, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of John L. Jr. and Anita (Henner) Makowski.

Janet was a 1955 graduate of Riverside High School in Wisconsin. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, the FOP Auxiliary and the Moose Auxiliary. Janet loved the lake life, along with sewing, quilting, bowling and playing games.

Janet is survived by her children, Dawn M. (Kent) Wilson, Kokomo, Debra A. (Chris) Appelhans, Kokomo, and Robert J. (Julie) Marchese, Logansport; her brother, John L. (Audrey) Makowski, Colgate, Wis.; grandchildren Chelsea M. (Adam) VanCamp, Ciera (Adam) Vega, Leah Exmeyer (Jeromy Carroll), Kristina Appelhans (Adam Jackowiak), Natalie (Tom) Norris, and Bradley (Hayley) Marchese; grandson-in-law Kyle Wong; great-grandchildren Hayden Vega, Piper Vega, Adrian Nottingham, Jaxton Carroll, Lilly Wong, Landon Wong, and (due anytime) Hudson Marchese; brother-in-law Richard Krueger; and several nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ralph Kyes; sister Nancy Krueger; granddaughter Karie Marchese Wong; and life companion, Byron Redmon.

Funeral service for Janet will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Ben Schlegel officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
