Max J. Colvin

Max J. Colvin, 85, passed away on Thursday evening, Feb. 2, 2017, at Marion General Hospital.
He was born on April 7, 1931, in Winchester, the son of Clarence and Edith (Wright) Colvin. Max honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On Aug. 11, 1990, in Randolph County, he married Cindy L. Gant.
Max worked for the Indiana Department of Transportation for 21 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of River of Life Church in Portland, a life member of the DAV No. 24, Portland, and the caretaker at the Jay County Conservation Club for more than 30 years. Max enjoyed spending time with the archers during the archery shoots and was a well-known prankster.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Cindy Colvin, Ridgeville; six children, Vickie Foudray, Winchester, Lisa Reidy, Winchester, Kim Foerg (Garry), Winamac, Eric Colvin (Carol), Kewanna, Sara Mills (Joseph), Portland, and Eric Gant (Jessica), Ridgeville; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Bridget Reidy; two sons-in-law, John Foudray and Tim Reidy; two brothers; and one sister.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at the Jay County Conservation Club, 6245 S. 325 W., Portland, with Pastor Paula Honeycutt officiating. Family and friends may call at the club after the service on Saturday from 1-3 p.m.
