Donna Jean 'Donnie' Grosvenor Metheny

Donna Jean "Donnie" Grosvenor Metheny, 95, Rochester, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
She was born on Aug. 6, 1921, in Milford, the daughter of Floyd E. and Blanche F. (Long) Cretcher. She was a proud graduate of Bourbon High School with the Class of 1939. On March 23, 1940, in Peru, she married Calvin Grosvenor. He preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1969. On Jan. 6, 1973, in Rochester, she married Wayne E. Metheny. He preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 2002.
Donna starting working at a young age, wrapping butter for 9 cents an hour until getting married. She worked alongside her husband, Calvin, on the family farm with more than 20,000 chickens producing eggs and eventually helping him with Rochester Cement Products. She spent many years working with her second husband, Wayne, farming as well. At the age of 65, she went back into the workforce at Northern Indiana Behavioral Healthcare in Plymouth, retiring at age 92. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Morning Glory Circle. She truly loved the Lord with all her heart, with all her soul, and with all her mind. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing cards and games and taking care of her family.
Survivors include her children, Timothy and wife Lynne Grosvenor, Rochester, Tom and wife Val Grosvenor, Rochester, Debby Grosvenor and companion Lonnie Evans, Logansport, and Peg Grosvenor Howell, Rochester. She was known as Grandma Donna to her grandchildren, Anjanette and husband Michael Paul, Atlanta, Ga., Kari Grosvenor, Kewanna, Trevor Grosvenor and companion Kaleigh Collins, Rochester, Courtney Vojtasek, Alexandria, Va., Blake and wife Sarah Vojtasek, Indianapolis, Britt and husband Tony Hancock, Danville, Jordan and husband Brent Woodruff, Fort Lee, Va., Caleb and wife Jennifer Howell, Rochester, Austin Howell, Rochester, Byron and wife Jennifer Osborn, Royal Center, Linc Osborn, Racine, Wis., Marji Osborn, Rochester, Eric and wife Marsha Metheny, Coldwater, Mich., Nick and wife Stephanie Metheny, Indianapolis, and Karla and husband Jeremy Cox, Camby; great-grandchildren Kori Rouch and Ryli Rouch, both of Kewanna, Gent Grosvenor, Rochester, Matthew Osborn, Racine, Wis., Chase Thomas and Megan Thomas, Rochester, Anna Osborn and Byron Osborn, Wabash, Georgia Vojtasek, Indianapolis, and soon-to-be great-granddaughter and namesake, Kaylee Jean Woodruff, Fort Lee, Va.; brothers Benjamin and wife Maxine Cretcher, Bourbon, and Norman and wife Pat Cretcher, Tucson, Ariz.; and sister of the heart/sister-in-law Dorothy Cretcher Wray and husband Lewis, Bourbon.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice G. Grosvenor; and brother Nilas Cretcher.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Rochester, with Pastor Gail Law officiating. Friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Summit Chapel Cemetery, Bourbon.
