Kenneth ‘Wayne’ Hurlburt Sr.

Kenneth "Wayne" Hurlburt Sr., 84, Thornhope, passed away at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at his residence.

Born April 30, 1932, in Fulton County, he was the son of the late Lovell and Frances (Engle) Hurlburt.

On Dec. 2, 1950, he married Elizabeth R. Moss. She preceded him in death on March 27, 2008.

He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

Wayne formerly worked at Wilson Foods in Logansport and retired after 23 years. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes in the Royal Center League and was an avid Cubs fan.

Survivors include his children, Keith Hurlburt (Lynda), Winamac, Kenneth Hurlburt Jr., Thornhope, Ron Hurlburt, Thornhope, Randy Hurlburt, Thornhope, and Laura Schneider, Winamac; brother Chester L. "Son" Hurlburt, Texas; and sister Patricia Branson, Winamac. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Kevin Hurlburt; brother Phillip Blaine; sister Catherine Wright; sister-in-law Ida Hurlburt; and brother-in-law Carl Branson.

His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel, with Pastor David Norris officiating. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 26, at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be at Victor Chapel Cemetery in Star City.
