Budd Moore

Budd L. Moore, 89, Elkhart, and formerly of Edwardsburg, Mich., passed away to his rest Feb. 25, 2017, at Eastlake Assisted Living, with his family around him.

He was born on May 29, 1927, in Peru, the son of Lucius and Effie (Ehlinger) Moore. He lived most of his life in the Michiana-area.

On May 30, 1947, he married Emma Lou Moon. They would have been married for 70 years this May. They had five children.

Budd is survived by his wife, Emma; their children, Thomas Budd (Jo) Moore, Paragould, Ark., JoAnn (Scott) Wozniel, White Pigeon, Mich., Pam (Michael) Miller, Goshen, and Marcia (Mike) Speraw, Mishawaka; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Moore, Rochester, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Richard Moore.

He had 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Reinholt, Plymouth.

Three of his sisters preceded him in death: Irene York, Dorothy Haimbaugh and Juanita Mohler.

Budd was a Borden milkman, delivering milk door to door. When he moved from Athens to Edwardsburg, Mich., on Garver Lake, he became a sheet-metal worker and an air balancer. He retired as a service manager from Trane Company, South Bend.

He enjoyed living on Garver Lake, working around the yard or in the lake, fishing or just sitting talking with a cup of coffee. He taught his children and grandchildren to fish. On weekends at the lake, he would sit and watch his grandchildren swim, ride bikes, play basketball and just have a good time at Grandpa and Grandma's lake. They will be memories that his family will always remember.

Budd was very proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps.

Family and friends may gather at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 W. Main St., Edwardsburg, Mich., on Saturday, March 4, from 10 a.m. until noon, when a remembrance service will start. The Rev. Scott Scheel, pastor of the Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church, will conduct the service. He will be assisted by Anne Mitchell, chaplain for Harbor Lights Hospice. Cremation has occurred. The family will lay Budd to rest at Adamsville Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans.

The Moore family would like to take this opportunity to express their gratitude to the staff at Eastlake Assisted Living for the wonderful care of their father and the help they gave their mother with taking care of him. Also they would like to thank Harbor Lights Hospice for the kindness and compassion shown to their father and family.

Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg, Mich.

Bud was milkman, came to Fulton Metal in the 1960's and learned the sheet metal trade. He was a dependable, honest, smart, loyal person. We loved him and proud to call him our friend.
God bless his family..

Rex & Peggy Sims,
