Ellen Flenar

Ellen Lee Flenar, 87, rural Mentone, passed away at 12:37 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.

She was born on Nov. 22, 1929, in Plymouth to Forrest and Goldie (Teel) Kesler.

On July 26, 1947, in Mentone, she married Robert D. Flenar, who passed away on March 9, 2011.

Ellen was a wonderful homemaker and loved her family and taking care of her cat, Otis. She also worked at various jobs outside the home.

She was a 1947 graduate of Mentone High School. She formerly attended the Mentone Church of Christ.

Survivors include her daughters, Diane and husband Lanny Idle, South Whitley, and Lynn and husband Roger Bucher, Fort Wayne; her son, Dan and wife Sherry Flenar, Columbia City; her daughter-in-law, Valerie Flenar, Rochester; 14 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son Brett Flenar; and sisters Eloise Everman and Freeda Witham.

Her funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastor Matthew Flenar officiating. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2017, at King Memorial Home, Mentone.
