Kathryn Leanna Metzger

Kathryn Leanna Metzger, 97, Akron, died.
Mom left us May 23, 2017, at 12:20 p.m. at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, to meet our Lord and dad after 13 years. She had a hospital stay of six days before going home. Kate was born Feb. 25, 1920, in Wabash County to Jesse S. and Nona (Mishler) Blickenstaff. She graduated from Chester High School in 1939.
Kathryn married Wayne Metzger on Sept. 29, 1939. They were married for 64 years before Wayne died Jan. 28, 2004.
Kathryn was part of the 39er's Club. She was a great cook and Grandma to everybody. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and riding motorcycles, but quilting was her passion. Kathryn attended Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisbeth Kay (Robert) DuBois, Akron; son Larry Michael (Kayla) Metzger, Atwood; sister Esther Miller, Pierceton; grandchildren Doug Metzger, Mindy Stookey, Renee Martin, Kami Minear, and Scott Jones; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse S. and Nona Blickenstaff; and sister Dorothy Warner Watson.
A celebration was held for her on May 26, 2017, attended by close friends and family. Burial was at Ulrey Memorial Cemetery, Silver Lake. Pastor J.P. Freeman officiated.
