Irene C. Mahoney

Irene C. Mahoney, 86, formerly of Rochester, passed away at 2:04 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at her daughter's residence in Southfield, Mich.
She was born on Sept. 16, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of John and Hattie (Golding) Hubers. On May 26, 1951, in Chicago, Ill., she married Thomas E. Mahoney. He preceded her in death in 2005.
Mrs. Mahoney had been a homemaker and also had worked at the former First National Bank and Helt Realty as a real estate agent, both in Rochester. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and an active member with the Fulton County Democratic Women's Club.
Survivors include her children, Thomas John and wife Mary Mahoney, Elmwood Park, Ill., Barbara and husband Mike Deniston, South Bend, Margaret Ann "Peggy" and husband Dave Ewick, Southfield, Mich., and Robert Alan Mahoney and partner Russ Barefield, Evanston, Ill.; grandchildren Kevin Mahoney, Katie Mahoney, Chip Tate, Joanie Tate, and Joey Ewick; and great-grandchildren Gabriel Klare, Madilyn Tate, McKenna Mahoney and Finn Mahoney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and a brother.
A celebration of life will be announced at a future date. In lieu of flowers, Irene requested that donations be made to the National Wildlife Federation or for people to perform a random act of kindness in her memory.
