|Culver guards Carnegie, Sanders thrive as others notice bigs|
|The first thing one might think of when one thinks about the Culver girls basketball team are Patrice McBee and Gwen Zehner.|
Culver girls basketball coach Tony Scheub known that opposing defenses aim to stop Patrice McBee, a 6-3 forward, and Zehner, a 6-1 post player. It's rare that a Class 2A team has one player with that height and skill, much less two.
So he uses that to motivate the guards to lift their offensive games.

Tippecanoe Valley (4-12) at Wawasee (11-5), 6 p.m./7:30 p.m. (JV/Varsity): Valley has lost four straight against Wawasee and 16 straight to Northern Lakes Conference opponents.
Valley's Staci Groom comes off a 31-point effort in a 59-52 loss to Southwood Saturday. She and Taylor Gast could match up with Wawasee's KiLee Knafel and Jonna Wiggs in the backcourt.

Tippecanoe Valley (2-8, 1-1 Three Rivers Conference) at Whitko (4-6, 1-1), 6:15 p.m./7:45 p.m. (JV/Varsity): Tory Keirn scored 13 points for Valley in a 63-55 loss to Winamac Thursday, including 11 in the third quarter as Valley cut what had been a 16-point deficit to two. Keirn also took on more of a ballhandling role in the second half with Staci Groom moving to more of a shooting guard role. Groom wound up scoring 30 points.

Northfield (1-6) at Caston (0-7), 6 p.m./7:30 p.m. (JV/Varsity): This game could turn on the frontline battle between Northfield's Morgan Peas and Caston's Jessica Showley.
Northfield has won all seven meetings since they were added to Caston's schedule in the 2003-04 season, including a 31-17 win last year in Wabash County.

|"We had one bad quarter, which was the second," Winamac coach Tim Roth said of last Friday's 28-16 win over North White.|
North White scored 16 points in the second quarter and held a 16-14 lead going into the fourth quarter before Winamac rallied behind Eric Sass. The senior running back ran for 245 yards and scored all four Winamac touchdowns and now has 710 yards and eight touchdowns in three games. Brennon Morning had two interceptions on defense, including one in the third quarter that turned the momentum, according to Roth.
