Bernice Rule, 93, Wabash, and formerly of Mentone, passed at 10:58 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019, at Bickford of Wabash.

She was born March 5, 1926, in Jasper, to John and Elizabeth (Dick) Klingel.

She married Floyd W. Rule Jr. on June 25, 1949, in Warsaw. He preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 2014.

Bernice was a homemaker and worked 12 factory jobs. She attended the Indiana School for the Deaf, Indianapolis. She was involved with the Deaf Senior Citizens Club of Michiana. Bernice and her husband enjoyed eating at area restaurants. She was a longtime member of Mentone United Methodist Church.

Survivors include nieces and nephews Cindy Goodnight, LaFontaine, Sylvia Haney, Friendsville, Tenn., Dorothy Tyler, Jasper, Sister Mary Beth Klingel, Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods, John Klingel, Lake Worth, Fla., June Schnaus, Jasper, Karen Schultz, Jasper, Tom Klingel, North Potomac, Md., Jan Neukam, Louisville, Ky., and Robert Klingel, Jasper; and close friend and interpreter Pat Lancet, Argos.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Floyd; sister; and five brothers.

Her service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastor Jason Rice officiating and Pat Lancet signing for the hearing impaired. Burial is in the Stony Point Cemetery, Etna Green. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, at King Memorial Home, Mentone.
