Miss Connie Sue Grube, 67, Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Parkview Wabash Hospital.
On Feb. 9, 1951, Connie was born to Walter F. and Louise M. Edington Grube. The oldest of four siblings, she shared her childhood with Michael, Janice and Jerry.
Connie graduated from Rochester High School in 1969. She attended Indiana State University where she made lifelong friendships that she cherished.
Connie loved babysitting for her niece and nephews and taking their pictures. For many years, she was the family photographer and historian. She provided the family with hundreds of pictures through the years. Her cat, TH, was her favorite companion.
Connie was an avid reader and so enjoyed the library. When she could no longer visit the library, the library came to her, bringing her a new stack of books every month. She loved listening to music, especially her old favorite, Andy Williams. Connie moved to Logansport after working at Hart, Schaffner & Marx for 15 years, then on to Winamac. Most recently, she was a resident of Vernon Health & Rehabilitation in Wabash.
Connie will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Louise M. Grube, North Manchester; her sister, Janice Sawyer and husband Tom, Rochester; a brother; Jerry Grube and wife Mary, Rochester; her nephews, Shannon (Laurie) Grube, Akron, Jason (Angie) Grube and Jeremy (Abby) Grube, Mint Hill, N.C., Nathan (Dana) Sawyer, Chicago, Ill., Elliot (Stacy) Allen, Noblesville, and Patrick (Jill) Allen, Timnath, Colo.; nieces Leah (Ben) Sawyer Wolfgram, Philadelphia, Pa., and Courtney (Andy) Kretcheck, Beech Grove; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many aunts and uncles and cousins.
Connie was preceded in death by her father, Walter, in 1967; and brother Michael Grube, in 2000.
A celebration of the life of Miss Connie Sue Grube will be noon on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. Pastor Kerry O’Brien will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m.-noon at the funeral home on Monday. A private family interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
