Nicky “Nick” Klinefelter, 72, Kewanna, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, at Golden Living Center, Kokomo.
Born Oct. 20, 1946, in Chicago, he was the son of the late Verlin and Esther (Stone) Klinefelter.
He was a 1965 Kewanna High School graduate where he set many records running track. Beginning in high school, he learned the skill of being a journeyman meat cutter and began a career at Mosher’s in Kewanna. He later worked at Marsh and Kroger and also worked as manager of the meat department at Wilt’s in Rochester.
On May 10, 1969, he married Markeeta A. Conrad. She survives.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam where he was a 1968 Tet Offensive survivor and also a recipient of the Bronze Star. Nick loved fishing, hunting, motorcycles and dogs.
He was a former member of the VFW Post No. 1121 in Kewanna.
Survivors include his wife, Markeeta Klinefelter, Kewanna; son Nicky Klinefelter Jr., Winamac; brother Verlin “Bo” Klinefelter Jr. (Anita), Kewanna; and sister Linda Gottschalk (Bill), Bonita Springs, Fla.
A graveside services with military rites is pending at this time.
