    BOYS BASKETBALL
    ARGOS — Sam Manikowski scored 21 points, and Ian Kindig scored 13 to lead the Argos boys basketball team to a wire-to-wire 46-36 win over visiting Bremen in the first round of the Bi-County Tournament Tuesday.
    Manikowski outscored the entire Bremen team 11-9 in the fourth quarter. He made 13 of 14 free throws, including nine of 10 in the fourth.

    Rochester (5-7) at Caston (3-7), 6 p.m./7:30 p.m. (JV/Varsity): RHS will try to end their four-game losing streak against a Caston team that they have beaten three straight years.
    This is just Caston’s second game in the last 18 days.

    The Tippecanoe Valley senior duo of Cameron Parker and Wes Melanson came up clutch against Rochester Friday.

    Parker scored 15 points, and Melanson added a career-high 12 for the visiting Vikings in a 63-56 overtime win over the Zebras at the RHS gym. Tanner Trippiedi added 11, and Jalen Shepherd had nine. Parker and Shepherd combined for 11 of valley’s 14 overtime points.

    Brady Perez scored 15, Alex Ahnafield had 11, and Kalvary Lingenfelter had 10 for RHS. Lingenfelter might have been one of the heroes for RHS after he drained 3-pointers on consecutive possessions to tie the game 49-49 with two minutes left.

    BOYS BASKETBALL
    Cameron Parker scored seven of his team-high 15 points in overtime, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 3:12 left, to lead three players in double figures as the Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team outlasted Rochester 63-56 and earned a Three Rivers Conference road win Friday.
    Wes Melanson scored a career-high 12 points, and Tanner Trippiedi had 11 for Valley, who improved to 7-6 overall and 4-0 in the TRC. Elsewhere Friday, Wabash beat Manchester 67-51 to hand the Squires their first conference loss.

    SWIMMING
    The Rochester girls and boys swimming teams didn’t need its top 200 freestyle relay teams for its senior night home meet against Eastern (Greentown) at the Rochester Middle School pool Thursday.
    Both the girls and boys 200 free relays were disqualified, but RHS won both meets anyway.
    RHS won the girls meet 93-77 and the boys meet 104-73.

    WRESTLING
    AKRON — The first weeknight dual wrestling match between Rochester and host Tippecanoe Valley had the dramatic ending that might just draw interest in more dual matches between RHS and Valley.
    Drake Montelongo defeated Dustin Siebert 13-0 at 113 pounds in the final match to give Valley a four-point major decision and a 40-36 at the TVHS gym Wednesday.

    BOYS BASKETBALL
    Owen Nifong shook off early foul trouble to score all of his game-high 12 points in the second half as the Argos boys basketball team beat Rochester 38-24 Tuesday at the RHS gym.
    RHS was within 23-22 after Kyle Reinartz scored on a hook in the paint with 5:51 left. Jonah Osborn was called for a foul on the play, but Reinartz was called for a lane violation on the free throw attempt that could have tied the game.

    WRESTLING
    FORT WAYNE — The Rochester wrestling team went 0-3 at the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association Team State Duals Saturday, finishing in a tie for 11th place among the 12 teams in Class 2A in the annual invitation-only event held at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
    RHS lost to Wawasee 65-14 and Edgewood 68-9 in its two pool matches. They then lost Southridge 57-22 in its place-round match.

    BOYS BASKETBALL
    SOUTH WHITLEY — Nick Allen hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points, and Kyle Reinartz had eight points and 10 rebounds, but a grieving Rochester boys basketball team dropped a 61-49 decision to host Whitko Friday for their first Three Rivers Conference loss Friday.
    Spencer Sroufe, Whitko’s 6-7 big man, scored 19 points, including a crucial 3-point play with two seconds left in the third quarter that gave Whitko a 46-41 lead. Brett Sickafoose scored eight of his 14 points in the fourth quarter. Drake Lewis added 13, and Chad Ebbinghouse had four 3-pointers for 12.

    GIRLS BASKETBALL
    WABASH — The Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball team no longer controls its own destiny in the Three Rivers Conference.
    Kelcie Thomson scored 21 points, and Ariel Dale tallied nine of her 16 in the fourth quarter to lead Northfield to a 56-52 home win over the Lady Vikings Thursday.

    Tippecanoe Valley (12-3, 4-0 Three Rivers Conference) at Northfield (12-2, 4-1), 6:15 p.m./7:45 p.m. (JV/Varsity):
    In this matchup, the team that controls its own destiny to the TRC title is Valley, but the only TRC team getting any recognition in the most recent polls is Northfield, who is ranked No. 6 in Class 1A.
    And the interested observer is Manchester, who handed Northfield their lone conference loss and is the only undefeated team in the TRC other than Valley.

    The Rochester wrestling team had three wrestlers place at the North Montgomery Holiday Duals individual tournament Saturday.

    Junior Haydn Prater was second at 152 pounds, senior Zane Gilbreath was third at 170 pounds, and freshman Dustin Siebert was fifth at 113 pounds.

    North Miami 51, Maconaquah 43 (Friday): Hannah Hall scored eight of her game-high 18 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Lady Warriors to their third straight Miami County Invitational title at North Miami Friday. Bailey Keim added 16 points, and Maryann Freeman had 14.

    Alex Merrett had 16 points, and Lilly Maple had 12 for Maconaquah.

    Brady Perez scored 14 points, and Quin Stesiak hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:40 left to lead the Rochester boys basketball team to a 46-42 win over sectional rival Lewis Cass at the RHS gym Friday.
    Alex Ahnafield contributed 10 points on his birthday, including two free throws with three seconds left that wrapped up the win.

    Western 59, Rochester 54
    Kaitlin Rogers hit five 3-pointers and scored a career-high 21 points, and freshman Emily Hughes added 10, but the Rochester girls basketball team fell to Western 59-54 in the finale of the Rochester Glass Holiday Classic Thursday.
